your journey
For most people the journey to faith is not a single step. It is a journey of exploration which happens over a period of time, with twists and turns, high points and low points, sometimes apparently going backwards rather than forwards.
As a church we want to help people make that journey, recognising that it has to be your journey and all we can hope to do is sometimes be a companion perhaps even sometimes a guide.
small group discussion
To help you make that journey we organise regular Explorer's Groups. These are led by experienced people and follow a pattern of a structured exploration of the Christian faith. They are aimed at people who want to think about that journey for themselves. They use a small group approach where people can share their own stories, their own doubts and difficulties. In starting such a journey you do not know where it is going to end up: for some it might mean the life of faith within the church; for others it might be a realisation that Christianity just is not for them, but at least they have given it a good look.
shared meal shared journey
The groups work by sharing a meal together and then sharing their responses to part of the Christian story. We ask people to try to commit to coming each week, rather than dipping in and out, but know that that is not always possible.
The groups are challenging, not because they are hard mental work but because they make us think about who we are, what we believe, what we value, what we want to become. The groups use the model of exploration and we don't try and force you down roads you don't want to travel.
The get : thinking group is more concerned with intellectual doubts - is Christianity believable. The Explorer's Group is for people who are not so worried about difficult questions about belief but those who want to see what faith might mean for them.
good fun new people
These groups have been used in many churches over a number of years and many people have found them very helpful. Most people also find them good fun and a chance to meet new people.
